As summer comes to a close and we look ahead to an energizing fall, it’s a wonderful time to celebrate the impact we’ve achieved while setting our sights on what lies ahead.
From investing in community programs to finding new opportunities to gather, connect, and grow our impact, there is so much to look forward to.
Thank you for all you do to make the Women United community as vibrant and engaged as it is. We’re excited for what we’ll accomplish together next.
$282,810 Invested in Our Community
Women United is proud to invest $282,810 in seven incredible programs supporting single mothers and their children across Southern Maine.
Together, these programs address the many interconnected factors that help families thrive, including stable housing, economic mobility, career development, legal assistance, and opportunities for children and families to build strong community connections.
- A Company of Girls + Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine | Anchoring Youth to Succeed
Provides youth with mentorship, arts enrichment, and community connections while helping families access resources that support their success. - Caring Unlimited | Legal Assistance for Victims
Connects survivors of domestic violence, the majority of whom are women with children, to critical civil legal services, increasing their safety and well-being. - In Her Presence | Building to Economic Freedom
Supports immigrant mothers and their children as they transition from shelter toward greater independence through case management, language lessons, technology, job coaching, and mentorship. - New Ventures Maine | Career Success for Single Moms
Helps single mothers strengthen household finances and advance their careers through financial education, group support, coaching, and practical career-building skills. - The Opportunity Alliance | Project WIN
Gathers mothers in Portland’s East Bayside neighborhood into a cohort to provide a long-term, multigenerational approach focused on economic mobility, stability, and financial self-sufficiency. - Project Home | Project Home Trust
Combines stable housing, direct financial assistance, personalized support, and community connection to help low-income single mothers and their children work toward greater financial security and well-being. - York County Community Action Corporation | Housing Navigation and Financial Empowerment for Single Mothers
Supports single mothers and their children as they move from housing instability toward long-term economic security through housing navigation, individualized coaching, financial education, and connections to family supports.
Thank you for making this possible. Every Women United member plays a role in creating these opportunities for women and families across our community. We are also incredibly grateful to our corporate partners, Hannaford, MEMIC, and WEX, for their generous support of Women United.

Women Owned Business Match Spotlight: Thank You, Poesy Co.
This June, Women United members and supporters helped unlock an additional $5,000 for our community through a generous matching gift from Poesy Co.
Founded by Women United member Jordan Peden, Poesy Co. partnered with Women United to encourage giving and amplify the impact of every gift made during the month. Their support is a great example of how local businesses can help strengthen our community while inspiring others to get involved.
For Jordan, being part of Women United is about investing in the place she calls home and helping create opportunities for others to do the same.
“Women United has been a meaningful part of my life in that it’s connected me to my community in ways that really matter. I can say without doubt that being a member of Women United and giving to this purpose is truly an investment in our community’s most valuable resource.”
Jordan Peden, Founder, Poesy Co.
The partnership between Jordan, Poesy Co., and Women United demonstrates that businesses of all sizes can play a role in advancing our shared goals. If you’re connected to a business that might be interested in supporting a future matching gift opportunity, we’d love to start a conversation.
