VOLUNTEER AT CAMP SUNSHINE’S WATERMELON FESTIVAL

Celebrate summer by supporting the 1st Annual Camp Sunshine Watermelon Festival hosted by L.L.Bean on Saturday, August 12. Camp Sunshine is a national retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families located on Sebago Lake. This free family event will feature live music, activities, games, and, of course, thousands of watermelon! Volunteer opportunities range from preparing watermelon to leading activities. VOLUNTEER BY THE BEACH AT THE BREAKER TO BREAKER 10K

Help Partners for World Health (PWH) pull off a successful scenic 10K beach FUNdraiser on Sunday, August 13 starting from Scarborough’s Pine Point Beach at 9am. Volunteers may assist with tasks such as course monitoring and parking assistance. Sign up to volunteer or learn more here.

HELP OUT AT RUTH’S REUSABLE RESOURCES’ OPENING WEEK FOR TEACHERS

Ruth’s Reusable Resources seeks volunteer support during their opening week for teachers, starting on Saturday, August 19 from 8:30-2:30pm. Groups of 8-12 adult volunteers are needed daily on August 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, 31 between 1-7pm. Shifts can be arranged. Help direct the crowds of teachers who flock to Ruth’s for supplies for their classrooms, keep aisles organized, and restock inventory. HELP CLIENTS RECEIVE LEGAL ASSISTANCE

The Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project seeks volunteers to support programs that provide free legal information, assistance, and representation to Mainers with low incomes facing civil legal issues. Volunteers help clients fill out intake forms and connect them with volunteer attorneys. They also provide referrals when necessary.
