HAND OUT WATER AT THE OLD PORT HALF MARATHON & 5K

Volunteer at the Old Port Half Marathon & 5K on Saturday, July 8 to support Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland! SUPPORT THE YMCA PEAKS TO PORTLAND SWIM TO BENEFIT KIDS

Join the YMCA of Southern Maine on Saturday, July 22 for its Peaks to Portland Swim which benefits youth in Southern Maine. Volunteers will be assigned positions based on their interest, abilities, and the needs of the event. Roles could include checking in athletes, kayaking, photography, food distribution, parking, medal distribution, etc. Volunteers are needed for various shifts on both Peaks Island as well as East End Beach in Portland. SEEKING “STEMME” FATALES

STEM Sisters is a new initiative of the University of Southern Maine which seeks to connect women in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, robotics, teaching, music, art, medicine, and beyond) with young women in the Portland community throughout the school year. Volunteers for STEM Sisters will collaborate with the program coordinator to plan and implement innovative programming once or twice a month beginning in September. There are opportunities to develop applicable STEM-based life skills training workshops for college students and/ or present inspiring learning experiences to high schoolers about topics beyond the school curricula. LEAD ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN AT THE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM & THEATRE

Enjoy spending time with children? Looking for an important and meaningful way to give back to the Portland community? Volunteer at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine! Play and explore with children while leading activities such as Play-Doh, face painting, and Tide Pool Touch Tank. The Museum & Theatre is currently seeking volunteers who are available four to six hours a month for the summer and/or fall season. No prior experience necessary as volunteers receive thorough program training from Museum & Theatre educators.
