August is winding down. Tomatoes are finally ripe, the ocean almost feels warm, and the first day of school is near. But most exciting to me? Every August, United Way of Southern Maine announces investments in our community to tackle the greatest challenges holding people back.

United Way of Southern Maine (UWSM) will invest $5,082,458 into Southern Maine this year. These investments support both United Way-led work and grants to 65 innovative programs and collaborations across

United 4 Childcare, a nonprofit partner with United Way of Southern Maine, is in the early stages of orchestrating opportunities for two new affordable childcare facilities in Cumberland County.
