ALICE SUMMIT

Beyond the Paycheck: Strengthening the ALICE Workforce is an interactive employer-focused summit to raise awareness and drive action around the challenges facing ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) workers. ALICE is critical to business success and the economy—but many are struggling to afford basic living expenses.

Emerging Leaders United, a giving circle of United Way of Southern Maine, brings together rising professionals to help give youth the tools and resources to succeed in school and beyond. Events provide members with networking opportunities and provide sponsors with valuable visibility.

This nine-week leadership program provides a cohort of rising professionals with trainings, tools, and connections to advance their careers while supporting United Way’s community campaign.

Southern Maine Workforce Initiative helps Maine employers build confidence in hiring, promoting, and retaining international talent. Their annual Global Talent Forum series provides a dynamic space to explore creative strategies, share best practices, and leverage innovative resources.

Read Away keeps parents in incarceration connected with their children through reading. With the help of volunteers, parents record themselves reading a picture book. The recording and the book are delivered to the child in a care package. The programs helps reduce isolation and adverse effects, while improving youth literacy.

Harm reduction efforts have contributed to a 22% reduction in overdose deaths in Southern Maine. This sponsorship supports continued efforts to reduce stigma and prevent overdose through narcan trainings and community education.

211 211 Maine is the 24/7, go-to resource for Mainers in times of disaster, personal crisis, or daily challenge. Free, confidential, and available in multiple languages, 211 Maine helps people find local services and supports.

supporting an essential community resource that helps Mainers get the help they need to find stability and thrive.
