United Way of Greater Portland is celebrating its 25th Annual Day of Caring on May 18 with a poster contest that highlights the value of working together to care for and strengthen our community. Day of Caring is an annual day of service sponsored by United Way of Greater Portland. More than 1,000 volunteers from local businesses and schools spend the day working on more than 75 projects including painting, trail clearing, gardening, organizing, and reading with kids.

United Way of Greater Portland exceeded its 2016 fundraising goal of $8 million and projects $8,012,200 in community donations when the annual campaign officially concludes in early May. This represents a second year of consecutive growth, and the first time United Way eclipsed $8 million since 2009. Campaign results were announced at the Campaign Celebration on January 17.
