Join us at the second annual United We CAN food sculpture contest at United Way of Greater Portland’s Annual Campaign Kickoff on September 15, 2017. Teams will construct sculptures from 8 a.m. -11:45 a.m. (spectators are welcome to watch). The sculptures will be on display during the kickoff in Monument Square at 12:00 p.m. After the event, Wayside Food Programs will distribute the collected items to food pantries throughout Cumberland County
United Way of Greater Portland (UWGP) is pleased to announce its first investments in Thrive2027, our community’s commitment to three ten-year goals to drive measurable and meaningful change in Greater Portland. The goals are to ensure more kids are successful in school, more families and individuals can afford to live and work here, and more people are living long, healthy lives.
The Brick & Beam Society, an affinity group of United Way Greater Portland, released its 2017 Community Investment Application today. They are seeking applications from qualified organizations addressing a community need in Greater Portland in the area of early childhood education and childhood poverty.
On May 23rd, members of United Way of Greater Portland’s Tocqueville Society and Brick and Beam Society gathered at the Maine Historical Society. Elaine Rosen (Chair of the Board of Assurant, Inc., Chair of the Board of The Kresge Foundation, former President of Unum, and former United Way of Greater Portland Campaign Chair) shared powerful words on the importance of philanthropy, mentorship, and developing community leaders.
