Dear Women United Members,
We are feeling incredibly grateful for this community and the care, generosity, and leadership you continue to share. We wanted to take a moment to reflect on a few recent highlights and share what is coming next.
A Heartfelt Thank You for the Women United Holiday Drive
Women United’s Holiday Drive in December was a powerful reminder of what happens when generosity meets action. Because of you, more than 60 families experienced moments of comfort, and joy during the holiday season. Whether you donated gifts, helped coordinate behind the scenes, or simply shared the opportunity with others, your actions mattered.
The spirit of this effort even caught the attention of the local news. Channel 8 (WMTW) highlighted this long-standing tradition and underscored the care and commitment that Women United members bring each year. The impact reached far beyond the presents; it showed what community support looks like when it matters most. Thank you to everyone who purchased a gift, wrapped a present, or hosted an event at their workplace.
Women United’s Night at the Museum
We are excited to invite you to Women United’s third annual Night at the Museum, an evening designed for connection, reflection, and inspiration. We will gather at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine for a special after-hours experience that brings the Women United community together. There will also be a silent auction. Children are welcome but not required!
We hope you will join us for this relaxed and meaningful evening. RSVP now at uwsme.org/nightatthemuseum.
Looking Back at Last Year’s Impact
As we review final reports from last year’s Women United investments, one theme stands out clearly: support that fills everyday gaps can change what is possible for families in big ways. Each of our partners shared stories of families feeling more supported, more confident, and less alone. Here are two highlights:
- A mother from Project WIN shared that she was able to move into an apartment where her young son has his own room and “space to play” for the first time. She is also taking classes at Southern Maine Community College and is looking into applying for a loan for a house.
- One mother from Project Home’s York County Trust program shared: “For the first time in a long time, daily life felt manageable, my child could just be a kid, and I could finally breathe.”
Your support made that possible. Thank you for being part of Women United and for showing up with generosity, curiosity, and care. We are so grateful to be in community with you and look forward to what we will continue to build together.
With gratitude,
Mackenzie Staropoli
