This week is Week of Action, one of the largest volunteer service events in the region. Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers for rolling up their sleeves and taking action! The collective impact of hundreds of employees from 30 companies volunteering at 40 non-profit project sites has been nothing short of amazing! From raking and painting to virtual reader and FAFSA trainings, the hundreds of hours, resources, and support you provided allows organizations to thrive and support a vibrant community.

Last, but certainly not least, we invite you to join us Friday, May 20, for Books & Baseball, a children’s book drive, and Week of Action volunteer appreciation night, hosted by United Way of Southern Maine in partnership with The Portland Sea Dogs and FMI, a Spirit AeroSystems Company.
Please bring a children’s book to the pre-game book drive to receive a buy-one-get-one game coupon and help knock it out of the park and stratosphere for literacy! All gently used and new children’s books accepted. Children’s books in Arabic, Portuguese, French, Spanish are highly encouraged.
Books & Baseball is also the finale of UWSM’s Week of Action volunteer service event week. We have a special Sea Dogs Week of Action game discount code for our Week of Action volunteers. The first 300 volunteers who come in their LIVE UNITED t-shirts will receive a complimentary Sea Biscuit. Finally, all Week of Action participants are invited to join us on the ballfield, around 4:30 pm, for a special thank you recognition.
Due to Thursday’s game being postponed, Friday’s Sea Dogs game is now a doubleheader starting at 5:00 pm. The gates will open at 4:00 pm.
