Day of Caring Poster Contest
United Way of Greater Portland is celebrating its 25th Annual Day of Caring on May 18 with a poster contest that highlights the value of working together to care for and strengthen our community.
Day of Caring is an annual day of service sponsored by United Way of Greater Portland. More than 1,000 volunteers from local businesses and schools spend the day working on more than 75 projects including painting, trail clearing, gardening, organizing, and reading with kids.

Rules
Eligibility:
Age groups: 6-11, 12-17, and 18+
Submission Deadline:
Tuesday, April 18, 2017

Poster Contest, United Way of Greater Portland, P.O. Box 15200, Portland, ME 04112-5200. Please do not fold artwork. Email digital submissions to volunteer@unitedwaygp.org. Drop off at United Way of Greater Portland, One Canal Plaza, Suite 300, Portland, ME.
Theme:
Volunteering in Cumberland County. Share what a difference volunteering makes.
Each poster should contain at least one of the following phrases: UNITED | Volunteering | Day of Caring.

Requirements
Copyright:
Poster design including any photographs, drawings, and/or graphics must be the artist’s original work. No copies of commercial clip art or copyrighted materials will be accepted.
Materials:
Artists may use a variety of media, such as watercolor, pen and ink, crayon, chalk, markers, and photography. Tip: Brighter colors are better. Posters will be on public display so make them easy to see and read.
Size & Layout:
All entries should be submitted on letter-size paper (8.5 x 11 inches). Posters may be in either landscape or portrait format.
Entry Form:
An entry form must be submitted with each poster. One entry per artist. The Entry Form is included (with artist’s name on the back of artwork).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
Judging
The Day of Caring Steering Committee will make their decision based on the following:
- Clear message conveyed by the text and artwork
- Creativity, originality, and artistic quality
- Visual clarity – easily read
Awards by Age Group
First Place:
$25 gift card at Artist and Craftsman and your poster displayed at Day of Caring sites
Second Place:
$10 Dunkin Donuts gift card
Third Place:
