HELP RESTORE LIFE-SIZE CHILDREN’S CHARACTERS FOR CAMP SUNSHINE
Camp Sunshine has a one-time volunteer need for a professional airbrush painter and 1-2 seamstresses to help restore two life-size models of children’s characters to their original condition. After being hugged by thousands of children with life threatening illnesses and their families for over a decade, they need a make-over to prepare them for another decade of providing comfort and joy. One theater professional has already been recruited with prop construction skills; airbrushing and seam ripping/sewing skills are the missing ingredients. It will take an estimated 2-4 days to disassemble and restore the characters, and Camp Sunshine will aim for a time that works for the group, during a long weekend or week when children are off-campus. Lodging may be available. Please contact rmcallister@campsunshine.org FMI.
MS HARBORFEST 2016
MS Harborfest is a three-day festival of sailboats, tugboats, and lobster boats combined with a shoreside benefit auction celebrating the glory of the Portland waterfront. Harborfest takes place on Friday, August 19 – Sunday, August 21 at various waterfront locations in Portland and Falmouth. On Friday, volunteers assist with the MS Benefit Auction and greet guests, set up, help with registration, prize table, check-out, clean up, running items, and photography. Time commitment is approximately 4-10pm. On Saturday, volunteers assist with the MS Regatta and set up, decorate, serve food, clean up, manage the t-shirt and ice cream tables, etc. Time commitment is approximately 12-8pm and shifts are available. On Sunday, volunteers assist at the MS Lobster Boat Races and Tugboat Muster and set up, decorate, serve food, clean up, etc. Approximate time commitment is 10am-2pm.
