Donor Designations
We honor and respect the many non-profit organizations that make our communities stronger and we appreciate your support of the causes that you care about most. We also want to make it as easy as possible for you to direct a portion of your support to qualifying non-profit organizations through your employer’s workplace giving campaign with United Way. United Way of Southern Maine will deduct fundraising and administrative costs from donor designations to other non-profits to cover the costs of collecting, processing, distributing, and fundraising. The designation fee for the 2024 campaign is 15%. The fee is calculated based on a 3-year rolling average of our overhead rate. Thus, the fee and the overhead rate may differ in any given year. There is a $250 cap per designation. The fee is broken down into two categories: Fundraising Fee: 8.1% and Management & General Fee (“Administrative Fee”): 6.9%.
