As a member of Emerging Leaders United (ELU), formerly known as the Brick & Beam Society, you are part of a community of driven professionals from diverse backgrounds committed to helping the next generation realize their full potential. Thank you for taking action to equip youth in Southern Maine with the skills and resources they need for their future.
This year, we are excited to continue investing your contributions in local programs that help set up our youth for success in school, work, and life by breaking down barriers. These programs focus on literacy development and access to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programming, enrichment opportunities like afterschool and summer programs, college and career readiness, and family engagement.
We are proud to support the following community partners:
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine’s South Portland Programs: Provides afterschool mentoring and activities for middle school students.
- Portland Community Squash’s Rally Portland: Serves youth and families through afterschool, weekend, and summer youth development programs.
- Our Place’s Youth Mentorship Groups + Family Advocacy Services Afterschool program engaging middle school students as Mentors-in-Training for younger youth and advocacy services for caregivers.
Networking through Philanthropy
In addition to investing in programs that support local youth, members of ELU find a unique source of connection and networking through philanthropy. This network of transformational givers not only inspires but also provides valuable insights and professional growth opportunities.
Recent Events
In the past quarter, our members have been actively involved in various initiatives:
- Tocqueville Society Fall Gathering: Emerging Leaders United members were invited to attend United Way of Southern Maine’s Tocqueville Society fall gathering. The Tocqueville Society is an exceptional group of local business and community leaders who show a deep level of commitment to the betterment of Southern Maine. ELU members had the opportunity to build connections with this group and learn about the work they are doing in community.
- Propel In Focus Event: In December, ELU was the featured nonprofit at Propel–In Focus, where we had the opportunity to share our mission and recent accomplishments with a broader audience.
