2019 UNITED We Thrive Awards Luncheon

Join us as we celebrate and recognize some of the amazing organizations and individuals helping our community thrive through their work to give kids a strong start, empower neighbors to thrive – not just survive, and/or help us all live longer, better.

RECOGNIZE INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITY

Behind all our work, there are people and organizations who get involved in big and small ways to ensure a better future for our families and communities. If your organization or someone you know volunteers or advocates for education, financial stability, or health of our community, let us know. If your organization, experienced growth in its 2018 United Way of Greater Portland campaign, share your results. This is a great way to showcase your organization’s accomplishments in the community and give your employees – or on individual advocate or volunteer – the public recognition they deserve for being fantastic community leaders. Submissions are due January 31, 2019. Please send to awards@unitedwaygp.org.

Give Awards

The Baxter Legacy Award celebrates an individual who has played a role in the long term success and viability of United Way of Greater Portland. It honors an individual who has:

  • demonstrated exceptional leadership in the community
  • made a significant contribution to advancing United Way’s mission
  • served as a dedicated volunteer, loyal leadership-level donor, and long-time friend

The Organizational Give Awards recognize organizations that demonstrate excellence, creativity, and generosity during the 2018 United Way of Greater Portland campaign, resulting in a year-over-year campaign increase. NOTE: Organizational awards are divided into three categories based on organization size.

Advocate awards

The Change Maker Award recognizes an individual who speaks out on behalf of or educates others on issues that support and advance Thrive2027 Goals. While this advocacy may be related to an individual’s job, it should not be the primary focus of their paid employment.

The Organizational Advocate Awards recognize organizations that speak out on behalf of or educate others on issues that support and advance Thrive2027 Goals. While this advocacy may be related to the organization’s business, it should not be the organization’s primary mission; for example, a child care center should not apply for its advocacy related to children. It could, however, apply for its work educating parents about financial literacy. NOTE: Organizational awards are divided into three categories based on organization size.

Volunteer award

The Andrews Volunteer Award recognizes the contribution that a volunteer makes to the mission of  United Way and the cause of caring for others. The award is presented to a volunteer who best exhibits commitment, enthusiasm, caring, and support in work that advances Thrive2027 Goals.

Organizational Volunteer Awards recognize organizations that dedicate time to an organization(s) in the community that support and advance Thrive2027 Goals. NOTE: Organizational awards are divided into three categories based on organization size.

Spirit of Greater Portland Award

The Spirit of Greater Portland, our highest honor, recognizes exceptional organizational citizens for outstanding employee and community engagement and measurable impact in education, financial stability, and health. To be considered for the Spirit of Greater Portland award, please submit an entry for your organization in all three categories (Give, Advocate, and Volunteer).
