STARTING STRONG READING PARTNERS

Portland’s Ocean Avenue and Lyseth Elementary Schools are proud to offer “Starting Strong Reading Partners.” This program engages volunteers to work with first grade students who could benefit from some extra reading support. Volunteers meet once or twice a week with their assigned first grader and practice literacy skills for 30 minutes. There are two sessions, October – January and February – May. DRIVE SENIORS IN THE CUMBERLAND AREA

In an effort to allow seniors to remain independent and in their homes for as long as possible, Cumberland Area Rides (C.A.R.) is looking for Volunteer Drivers to drive seniors to appointments, grocery store, etc. in the town of Cumberland and vicinity. Schedules can be as flexible as needed for the volunteer. HELP WINTERKIDS WITH DATA ENTRY

WinterKids just got a new teacher and school database to track their Guide to Outdoor Active Learning (GOAL) and WinterKids Challenge teachers! The organization is looking for detail-oriented volunteers to help them get the database up and running this year. Volunteers will input teacher contact info, school addresses, and years active with WinterKids programming. FMI, contact Jessica at jgreen@winterkids.org.

VOLUNTEER IN FREEPORT COMMUNITY SERVICES’ THRIFT SHOP

Volunteers in Freeport Community Services’ Thrift Shop at the Community Center (53 Depot Street) assist customers, neaten up the shop, and use a simple cash register. Come join the team! Volunteers can choose to take a regular shift, Monday – Friday, 9am-12pm, 12-2:30pm, or 2:30-5pm, or Saturday, 9am-12:30pm or 12:30-4pm, or become a sub. Volunteers can take a shift once a week, once a month, or another variation. Scheduling is flexible!
